Youth Mentoring and Continuing Education

Education: a cornerstone for success

Youth Mentoring and Continuing Education

Throughout the year, our youth, 14-24, gather to share resources and problem solve. They also meet monthly, online to discuss

  • Academic needs

  • Plans for life after high school

  • Financial needs

  • Summer enrichment

  • Summer internships

  • Health and wellness

Our Youth Initiative creates community that offers guidance, resources, and also financial assistance for continuing education, including Driver's Education, and help with expenses related to sports.

Building a support network within the community is important as our teens face many challenges as they are often the first generation in their families seeking advanced education and careers that will provide living wages.
All high school students participate in the online meetings for their four years of high school. Check-ins and follow-up calls by staff and volunteers happen between online meetings. Busy teens need accountability buddies as they navigate high school and what's next. SSEF is building social capital for the next generation and offering support in areas where their parents have limited knowledge.
